Amazon India Launches Academy for Future Engineers

Amazon has launched an online academy to train students for one of India's most competitive college entrance tests - the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), a move aimed at tapping into the virtual learning goldmine during the coronavirus pandemic. 

India has seen a rise in online education, just like many other places across the world, as the pandemic got schools to close. The country's online education market for grades 1 to 12 is expected expand six-fold to $1.7 billion by 2022, while the market for students beyond grade 12 is set to reach $1.8 billion.

Available both as a website and an Android smartphone app, “Amazon Academy” will offer learning material, lectures and assessments to help students prepare for the exam that allows entry into top engineering schools across India. The content on Amazon’s new platform is set to remain free for the next few months.
