Axa Asia Division Hit by Cyber Attack
French insurance company - Axa announced on Sunday that one of its businesses in Asia was hit by a ransomware attack.
"As a result, certain data processed by Inter Partners Asia (IPA) in Thailand has been accessed”, the company said, adding it would notify all clients if it found they had been affected.
The group said the cyber attack had targeted its Asia Assistance division, impacting IT operations in Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
Using ransomware called Avaddon, criminals have hacked the operations and stolen three terabytes of data, the Financial Times reported based on a post seen on the dark web.
