Microsoft Announces Major Windows Update at Build Conference

26 May 2021

Microsoft began its annual Build conference for software developers on Tuesday with a range of cloud product announcements, as well as news that the Windows operating system will be getting better for developers - a very important aspect for the company that needs to ensure programmers choose its Azure public cloud.

If developers become less interested in building and updating apps for Windows, organizations might consider moving to alternatives, hence sabotaging a major chunk of Microsoft’s business.

“Soon we will share one of the most significant updates of Windows of the past decade to unlock greater economic opportunity for developers and creators. I’ve been self-hosting it over the past several months, and I’m incredibly excited about the next generation of Windows. Our promise to you is this: We will create more opportunities for every Windows developer today and welcome every creator who is looking for the most innovative, new, open platform to build and distribute and monetize applications”, Microsoft CEO - Satya Nadella said.

Microsoft has released a 43-page “book of news” detailing its updates. These include a Windows on Arm developer kit, tools for cloud calling, more Azure Arc support, blockchain data storage, teams customization, easier collaborations between  professional developers and non-technical  staff, as well as AI for writing code.
