Mitsubishi to Provide Wind Power to Amazon EU

08 February 2021

Mitsubishi is about to enter in an agreement to provide Amazon's European facilities with renewable energy through its Dutch unit - Eneco.

The offshore wind farm will be built by Eneco and come to life in 2023, supplying 130 megawatts (MW) per year to multiple Amazon facilities, including its European data centre, the Nikkei reported.

Amazon has faced protests from environmental activists and pressure from its employees to take action on climate change, causing the company to promise to be net carbon neutral by 2040, while Japanese trading houses are too, in turn, amidst a global shift from coal and other fossil fuels to clean energy.
