Toyota Electric Car Sales to Reach 5.5 Million by 2025
Toyota is picking up the pace on the electric vehicles front. Having topped 10 million vehicle sales last year, of which 2 million were electric, it now proceeds to surpass its targets in the coming years.
The company had prior shared its plan to sell 5.5 million electrified vehicles, including 4.5 million of hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles and 1 million electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles by 2030. However, turns out, auto electrification is progressing faster than expected and the automaker now believes it can reach its target as early as 2025 - 5 years ahead of schedule, Seiya Nakao - chairman and president of Toyota China's engineering and manufacturing, commented. This means that 2025 is no longer a format company aim, as Toyota continues to surpass its own expectations.
