LTC was created in 2011 by Charlie Lee, ex-employee of Google, and it is one of the top 5 biggest cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalisation with $7.2B (compared to $137.5B Bitcoin market Cap). Like Bitcoin, Litecoin has also a cap on the amount of coins that can be mined, this number being 84M, at the end of 2018 there were 59.12M left. Litecoin was originally created as a complementing crypto to Bitcoin rather than as a competitor. It is considered to be competing against Ether for the title of "the silver to Bitcoin's Gold". Litecoin's highest price was back in December 2017, when it traded at $302. 04, it the latest lowest point was $25.09 a year later, in December 2018.In 2013, Litecoin surged 100% in over 24 hours. In November of that year it reached a market capitalisation of $1B. Charlie Lee has, to date, sold almost all of his Litecoin holdings due to a perceived conflict of interest. USD, on the other hand, is considered a FIAT currency. It is centralised and controlled by a central bank, the Federal Reserve. It was introduced in 1972 and it is the world's reserve currency.

1. Apart from the policies that will affect the USD, the volatility of the cryptocurrency will weigh heavier, and hence, will move the pair in a more forceful manner. Regular factors such as regulation and additions of LTC as a payment method will affect the pair's direction. 2. Other more specific factors that will push the pair's value are the correlation to Bitcoin, the availability of the coin in exchanges as that will increase its demand as overall global reach multiplied. 3. Litecoin is known for its lower security protocols, as it was created with the idea of dealing with smaller transactions, as an addon to Bitcoin. Any hack or security breach in the cryptocurreny's infrastructure will put the coin's value under pressure.
